To convert a BIN file to ISO on Windows 11 with WinBin2Iso, open WinBin2Iso, pick your BIN file as the source, pick where you want the new ISO file to go, and press Convert. That is the whole conversion in three steps. Before you start, extract the WinBin2Iso ZIP file first, because the program will not run reliably straight from inside a ZIP archive. Once the ISO is made, you can mount it in Windows 11 File Explorer to check that it opens correctly.
WinBin2Iso is a free, portable Windows tool by Nenad Hrg and SoftwareOK. It converts BIN CD and DVD images to ISO format, and it can also convert MDF files to ISO. The latest version is v6.79, released on 19 October 2026. There is no installer: you download a ZIP file, extract it, and run the program from the extracted folder. It is Windows-only, so this guide is written for Windows 11. There is no Mac, Linux, or Android version of WinBin2Iso.
Before you start: extract the ZIP first
Start from the WinBin2Iso download page and get the current version for your system. Most Windows 11 PCs use the 64-bit version. Save the ZIP file somewhere easy to find, such as your Downloads folder, then right-click it and choose Extract All. Pick a normal folder, for example a new folder on your Desktop or in Documents, and finish the extraction. Only then double-click the WinBin2Iso program file inside the extracted folder.
Step-by-step: convert BIN to ISO on Windows 11
- Open WinBin2Iso. Double-click the program in the folder where you extracted it. If Windows SmartScreen appears, that is normal for a small, portable tool that is not widely downloaded through the Microsoft Store. Read the SmartScreen note below before you decide how to proceed.
- Pick the BIN source file. Click the browse button next to the source field and select your .bin file. The file should be a data disc image. If you also have a .cue file next to it, WinBin2Iso does not need it to convert a data BIN, but keep it with the original files until you have checked the new ISO.
- Pick the ISO destination. Click the browse button next to the destination field, choose a folder with enough free space, and type a clear file name ending in .iso. Do not overwrite your original BIN file, and do not save the ISO into a folder that is still syncing to the cloud if you can avoid it, because that can slow the conversion.
- Press Convert. Click the Convert button and wait for the progress bar to finish. Do not close the program, put the PC to sleep, or unplug the drive that holds the source or destination while conversion is running.
- Check the result. When the program reports success, look for the new ISO file in the destination folder. Its size will often be a little smaller than the BIN file, because ISO stores only the user data from each sector, not the extra error-correction and subchannel data that a raw BIN can contain. That difference is expected for data discs.
SmartScreen on Windows 11
Windows 11 may show a SmartScreen warning when you run a program downloaded from the internet, especially a portable tool. The warning does not by itself mean the file is harmful, and it does not mean it is safe either. Only run a copy you downloaded from the official SoftwareOK site or from the download page linked above, and check that you extracted it yourself. If the program closes immediately instead of opening, see why WinBin2Iso closes immediately for the usual causes, which include running from inside a ZIP and a blocked download.
Verify and mount the ISO in Windows 11
After conversion, the quickest check is to mount the ISO in Windows 11. Right-click the new ISO file in File Explorer and choose Mount. Windows will assign it a drive letter and open it like a disc drive. Open that drive and check that the folders and files you expect are there. You can also open a few files to confirm they are readable. When you have finished, right-click the mounted drive and choose Eject. Full details are in our guide to mounting an ISO on Windows 11.
Important warning about audio CDs
This method is for data discs. If your BIN and CUE came from an audio CD with several tracks, converting to a single ISO can lose the track structure, because an ISO is a single data track image. For audio CDs, keeping the original BIN and CUE files, or mounting the BIN and CUE together, is often safer than converting to ISO. Do not convert an audio CD BIN to ISO and then delete the original if you want to keep the separate tracks.
FAQ
Do I need a CUE file to convert a BIN to ISO? No, not for a data BIN. WinBin2Iso does not need a CUE file to convert a data BIN. A missing CUE matters more if you want to mount or burn the original BIN, because the CUE describes how the disc is laid out.
Why does WinBin2Iso not open when I double-click it? The most common reason is that it is still inside the ZIP file. Extract the ZIP to a normal folder first, then run the program from that folder. If it still closes at once, check the closes-immediately guide linked above.
Can I convert a BIN file larger than 2 GB? Yes. Files over 2 GB are supported. Make sure the destination drive has enough free space and is not formatted with a file system that limits individual files to a smaller size.
